Las Vegas Medical Center has been serving New Mexico for over 100 years

The Las Vegas Medical Center (LVMC) is New Mexico's state psychiatric hospital ... and so much more. LVMC provides health care services in four areas.

First, as a state hospital Las Vegas Medical Center offers inpatient care to adult psychiatric patients. Las Vegas Medical Center provides adult psychiatric patients services on seven units, with their forensic program in a separate division. Both divisions are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

Their adolescent program was redefined in 1995 so that now all of its 20 beds are dedicated to treating adolescent male sex offenders who have a serious mental illness. The program is a Level IV Residential Treatment program, JCAHO accredited, and Medicaid reimbursable.

A third component of the Las Vegas Medical Center is the Community Mental Health Program. This is a comprehensive community mental health center that offers such innovations as Adult Residential Sheltered Care Homes for many patients who would otherwise be hospitalized.

In addition to its psychiatric services, the Las Vegas Medical Center is a major nursing home care provider in northeastern New Mexico for elderly and disabled residents. The Las Vegas Medical Center's intermediate and skilled nursing care services are certified by the federal Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) and accredited by JCAHO.
